A History More than 40 Years in the Making
Typically, your insert should be 2” bigger than the cover. This insures you have a plump pillow. Your pillow fiber will also determine if you have a full or slouchy pillow. Polyester inserts are typically less expensive and will allow for a full pillow. The downside to polyester filled pillows is that they are usually stiff and not comfortable. Using a down/feather filled insert creates a higher end look with the bonus of comfort. Plus, using down filled insert is the only way to achieve a “pillow chop”.
Though the Institute was formally established in 2018, its history can be traced back to 1979 when renowned orthopaedic surgeon Craig Ferrell, M.D., founded Franklin Bone & Joint Clinic. Today, there are sixteen highly-qualified physicians caring for patients at Bone and Joint Institute’s state-of-the-art 121,000-square-foot facility in Franklin.
Each subspecialty of orthopaedics is represented at Bone and Joint Institute – sports medicine, shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, foot and ankle, hip and knee replacement, and spine. With this, Bone and Joint Institute offers comprehensive orthopaedic care where patients can receive all of their services under one roof. They can be seen by their physician, have their imaging, complete physical or occupational therapy, receive injections, and, if needed, undergo surgery in their ambulatory surgery center.
Bone and Joint Institute surgeons recently began performing outpatient total joint replacements in Bone and Joint Institute Surgery Center on the first floor of the Franklin facility, adding to their list of in-house offerings. The Rehabilitation Services department on the second floor houses physical and occupational therapists who have decades of experience and specialized training to help patients reach their rehabilitation goals. The building also boasts a procedure suite where patients can have minimally-invasive interventions and injections with state-of-the-art techniques using fluoroscopy, or portable x-ray.
For life’s unexpected injuries, Bone and Joint Institute also offers an After-Hours Injury clinic at their Franklin location, open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
“Our physicians and staff are passionate about providing the highest quality orthopaedic care to those within our community and throughout the region,” said Darren Harris, Bone and Joint Institute CEO. “We are proud to be a trusted provider of innovative, transformative orthopaedic care. Our location off the Highway 96 exit of Interstate 65 makes us very accessible to Maury County and other areas south of Williamson County.”
Bone and Joint Institute is passionate about helping others not only through medicine, but through partnerships and programs that support the community. Through its partnership with Williamson Medical Center, Bone and Joint Institute is the “Official Sports Medicine Provider” for Williamson County Schools, providing an athletic trainer and physician to all of the high schools in the county. Additionally, the Bone and Joint Foundation, a subset of the Williamson Medical Center Foundation, supports local organizations in Middle Tennessee that sustain the Foundation’s values: compassion, faith in healing and service to the community. The Foundation also provides scholarships to high school seniors looking to pursue a career in medicine, athletic training, physical or occupational therapy, or other health-related fields.
Growth is a priority at Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee, with clinics now open in Thompson’s Station and Nolensville. Each clinic contains an orthopaedic urgent care and physical therapy space. Therapy clinics are staffed by experienced therapists often living in the communities they serve. Orthopaedic urgent care clinics, staffed by mid-level providers, are open extended hours to accommodate injuries that occur outside regular business hours. At both orthopaedic urgent care locations, patients are able to walk-in, schedule an appointment online, or call for a same-day appointment that is convenient for them.
“As part of our strategic plan, our goal is to serve the communities where our patients work and live through orthopedic urgent care and physical therapy clinics. We will continue to expand that business model with centers that feature expanded hours and physician extenders,” said Harris. “We’re always looking to potentially add new providers and services to Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee so that patients can get their care all in one place. As we move forward, we always keep in mind the mission of Bone and Joint Institute: improve the lives we serve through patient-centered, orthopaedic care.”
