Children’s Dental Columbia has provided comprehensive dental care for the children of middle Tennessee for 46 years. Dr. Heather Owens and Dr. Gina Carney are board-certified pediatric dentists. They specialize in dentistry for infants, children, teenagers, and patients with special needs. They, along with their staff, are dedicated to providing the highest possible quality of care for your child. They believe that good oral health is an important part of your child’s overall health and well-being. Caring for children is their passion, and it shows in everything they say and do.

Founded in 1979, Children’s Dental Columbia moved into their new office in May 2021. This brand-new, state-of-the-art building was designed with your child in mind. From the child-friendly tropical décor to the televisions mounted on the ceiling, everything is geared toward fostering a great experience for children. They provide a comfortable dental home for children and treat each patient as if they were a part of their own family.

Educating children and parents is very important at Children’s Dental, and they genuinely want parents to feel informed and confident that they are receiving the best treatment possible. They encourage parents to establish a relationship with a pediatric dentist in early childhood. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that a child visit a pediatric dentist six months after the first tooth appears. By seeing a child at such a young age, they are better equipped to provide guidance that helps prevent the development of many common dental problems.   

In addition to the outstanding dentists, the highly trained team members at Children’s Dental are chosen for their compassion and skills in caring for children. Their extensive training enables them to provide care for children with various levels of sedation in the office and in an outpatient surgery setting.

Children’s Dental Columbia is excited to announce that Dr. Katherine Harlan Bolding will be joining their amazing team this summer. Dr. Katherine grew up in Columbia, Tennessee.  After graduating from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, she attended the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry.  Following dental school, she worked at a children’s dental office in Mississippi, then completed a pediatric dental residency in Kansas.  She is thrilled to be coming back to her hometown to work as a pediatric dentist in the practice where she grew up as a patient of Dr. Heather Owens.
