Make a Toast to Mom and Dad this Mother’s & Father’s Day

Parents spend years giving their time, guidance, and support, without expecting anything in return. It’s just part of the job description. To help celebrate Mother’s and Father’s Day, give a gift that will create incredible memories together — one that comes in a wine bottle: an evening with Lessons From The Vine, sipping and learning about wines from around the world!

Andrew Brewer, Certified Sommelier, has an intriguing story that begins with football and ends with wine. In 2014, Brewer played his final season of professional football abroad in Parma, Italy. Little did he know how that experience would change the trajectory of his life. During his time in Italy, he fell in love with the Italian culture – the people, the food, and especially the wine. He began to see and experience wine in a completely new way, as it was not just a staple at the dinner table but a source of pride and identity for Italians.

Fast forward to 2018, when he moved to Napa Valley and never looked back. He has spent the last eight years studying wine, taking him all over the world. He later moved to Nashville, where he started Lesson From The Vine, a private wine experience that shares his love for wine with others, and now resides in Columbia, Tennessee.

Lessons From The Vine creates a private wine experience centered around people, genuine connection, learning, and sharing meaningful moments with others. It’s the perfect opportunity to gather family and friends and celebrate the people who mean the most.

Hosted in the comfort of your home or at an intimate venue, this private wine-tasting gathering transforms a simple celebration into something genuinely memorable. Brewer guides guests through thoughtfully selected wines based on the host’s preferences, sharing the stories and tasting techniques that make each pour unique. Whether you’re searching for the perfect $25 bottle of red or ready to indulge in a standout Chardonnay, he will thoughtfully curate an exceptional selection for your party.

At a recent private tasting event, five bottles of wine were poured – a 2022 Raventos Blanc De Blancs, 2021 Sandhi Chardonnay, 2024 Chateau Minuty “M” Rosé, 2020 Simone Capecci Picus, and a 2021 Heitz Cellar Cabernet. Brewer shared details of each wine’s story as guests tasted this varied collection from around the world.

When asked what his favorite wine of the group was, he replied, “I don’t like picking a favorite wine! These are all great wines, and I would happily drink any of them. There is a time and place for all these wines. If I had to pick one, I would select the Simone Capecci Picus. I think it is such a great value wine, it over-delivers for what you pay for it.”

As guests enjoyed the Simone Capecci Picus, Brewer shared a story from the Marche region of Italy, where it is made. “I’ll give the abbreviated version of it, but picus means woodpecker in Latin. The Peceni people claim a legend from their ancestors, and according to the story, a tribe of Sabine people, looking for new land, were guided by a woodpecker towards the Adriatic coast,” he explained. “They viewed this bird as a divine sign of favor and protection on their journey. The bird became sacred to the tribe, and they were later referred to as the Piceni after it. The Marche region is known for having a fair number of woodpeckers, specifically green ones, that have now become the official emblem of the Marche region.”

Lessons From The Vine blends education with entertainment, making wine approachable for everyone at the table — whether they’re longtime enthusiasts or simply enjoying a good glass with great company. In a season dedicated to honoring parents, a private wine experience offers something meaningful and the chance to celebrate with loved ones, creating moments that will be remembered long after the last toast is made.
